Getting to Shropshire

Shropshire is situated in the West Midlands and borders Wales to the west, Cheshire to the north, Staffordshire to the east, Worcestershire to the south-east and Herefordshire to the south

It is conveniently located close to motorways, main line railway stations, and airports, making it relatively straight-forward to reach from across the UK



By car:
  • From the South West:
    • Travel north on the M5, and merge onto Junction 8 of the M6 heading northbound
    • Leave the M6 at Junction 10A and join the M54 signposted towards Telford and Shrewsbury
    • If travelling to Newport, leave the M54 at Junction 3 and follow the A41 northbound towards Whitchurch; if travelling to Telford or Shrewsbury then remain on the M54
    • Guests who opt to travel directly to the ceremony are advised to leave the M54 at Junction 3, follow the A41 northbound, and follow our directions to the church which can be found here
  • From London and the South East:
    • Travel northbound on either the M1 or the M40
    • If travelling on the M1 then leave the motorway at Junction 19 and join the M6 signposted towards Birmingham and the North West; if travelling on the M40 then merge onto the M42 travelling northbound and then leave the M42 at Junction 7A to join the M6 towards the North West
    • Leave the M6 at Junction 10A and join the M54 signposted towards Telford and Shrewsbury
    • If travelling to Newport, leave the M54 at Junction 3 and follow the A41 northbound towards Whitchurch; if travelling to Telford or Shrewsbury then remain on the M54
    • Guests who opt to travel directly to the ceremony are advised to leave the M54 at Junction 3, follow the A41 northbound, and follow our directions to the church which can be found here
    • Should you prefer to take the M6 Toll then either remain on the M42 or leave the M6 a Junction 3A and follow the signposts as directed; continue along the full length of the M6 Toll and merge onto the M6; leave the M6 at Junction 12 and join the A5 signposted towards Telford; once you have passed through the village of Weston-under-Lizard you can join the A41 should you be travelling towards Newport or directly to the ceremony
  • From the North:
    • Travel southbound on the M6 and leave the motorway at Junction 15
    • Take the A519 signposted towards Eccleshall, follow this road through Eccleshall itself, and continue following signposts for Newport
    • At the roundabout with the A41, guests travelling to Telford should take the A41 southbound towards Wolverhampton, and then follow the A518 signposted towards Telford
    • Guests who opt to travel directly to the ceremony from the North are advised to continue on the B5062 rather than joining the A41, and follow our directions to the church from Newport which can be found here
By rail:
  • The nearest main line railway stations are Wolverhampton and Stafford – both are located on the West Coast Main Line and offer direct services to and from the following stations:

    Ceremony

    The ceremony will take place at 3:00pm at St Peter's Church, High Street, Edgmond, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 8JY



    Many guests who drive directly to the ceremony on Saturday will find the following directions from the A41 helpful once in Shropshire
    • From the A41 Take the A518 signposted towards Telford
    • Travel straight over two roundabouts, and take the right-hand exit at the third roundabout signposted towards Edgmond
    • Continue for approximately 1.5 miles until you pass the Edgmond boundary sign
    • The Church is 200 yards on the left; parking is available in the field opposite
    For guests who opt to travel from within the local area on Saturday afternoon, please find directions from key towns to the church below

    From Newport:
    • Take the B5062 signposted towards Shrewsbury
    • After passing the Edgmond boundary sign take the first left onto Chetwynd Road
    • Continue along this road which becomes the High Street, and pass The Lion, the village shop, and the war memorial
    • Once you pass the turning onto School Road, the Church entrance is located 100 yards on the right; parking is available in the field opposite
    From Shrewsbury:
    • Take the B5062 signposted towards Newport
    • Turn right at the junction at the corner of Harper Adams University onto Flatt Road
    • Continue along this road which School Road
    • Turn right at the end of School Road onto the High Street
    • The Church entrance is located 100 yards on the right; parking is available in the field opposite
    From Telford:
    • Take the A518 signposted towards Stafford
    • At the roundabout with the Red House Inn take the left-hand exit signposted towards Edgmond
    • Continue for approximately 1.5 miles until you pass the Edgmond boundary sign
    • The Church entrance is located 200 yards on the left; parking is available in the field opposite

    Reception

    The reception will take place at the Lisk family home at Stoneleigh House, Field Aston, Newport, Shropshire, TF10 9LE



    If driving, we recommend avoiding Newport town centre:
    • Exiting the church car park, turn left and continue out of Edgmond village for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the roundabout with the Red House Inn
    • Take the first exit left onto the A518 signposted towards Stafford
    • Continue over one roundabout and at the second (in which the central island is decorated with sheep) take the right-hand exit signposted towards Chetwynd Aston
    • Continue for approximately 500 yards and take the first left turn signposted towards Field Aston
    • The entrance to Stoneleigh House is located approximately 100 yards on the left; parking is available through the main gates
    Unfortunately the coach is now full, however there will be plenty of cars travelling between the church and the reception who will be able to provide a lift

      What to do:
      • Ironbridge, home to the first bridge manufactured from cast iron, is the birthplace of industry; the Museum of the Gorge is worth a visit
      • Ironbridge is also home to the Coalport China Museum at the once famous Coalport China Factory
      • If you are a fan of walking, head up the Wrekin or take in the views atop the Long Mynd
      • The Royal Air Force Museum at RAF Cosford is home to the National Cold War Exhibition and a fabulous collection of military aircraft including the three 'V' Bombers
      • Shrewsbury and Ludlow are two lovely market towns and well worth a visit
